Benubird PDF 1.4.0.7 Released

We’re pleased to announce that version 1.4.0.7 of Benubird PDF has been released and is now ready for download from the Benubird updates page.

This is a maintenance release which includes the following changes:

Currently the support forums for Debenu products are dispersed across a few different locations, but with the release of the new Debenu Forum (www.forums.debenu.com), we’re making a big effort to consolidate everything.

So here are the new places to post questions about the following products:

Benubird 1.4.0.6 beta 4 out the door

OK, after the next round of testing, this is it — the last beta before the official release of 1.4.0.6.

In this version we’ve reviewed the watched folder system to see that it correctly supports Windows 7 both 32 and 64 bit. Additional keyboard support has been added where encountered for simple functions along with other minor enhancements and fixes related to the installer system.

Take a look at the following updates for Benubird 1.4.0.6 beta 3:

64-bit support
Testing on Windows 7, 64-bit and 32-bit
SQLite library compiled within the application
Clean and tested installer/uninstaller.
Vestiges of some testing dialogs from beta 2 have been removed.
The context menu now brings the “Add to Benubird” options into the foreground.

OK, have you got some time to spare – then take a look at Benubird PDF 1.4.0.6 beta 2. We’ll be letting it out the door shortly, but while we give it the final look over, here’s your chance to do so yourself and let us know if there’s anything obvious that you pick-up.

As well as fixing the much reported collection issue — we also updated all of the major UI libraries and PDF drivers.

Note: it’s not fully 64-bit compatible — the main application itself and watched folders function. However, the Benubird PDF driver and the right-click shell menu are still in development.

How to backup the Benubird database file

We’ve had a few customers ask us if there’s any way they can back up the Benubird database. Well, there’s nothing built-into the user interface at the moment — however, I can tell you the location of the Benubird database file Â and you can copy this into your archive for safe keeping:

C:\Users\< username>\AppData\Roaming\Benubird\Benubird.db (Windows Vista | Windows 7)
C:\Documents and Settings\< username>\Application Data\Benubird\Benubird.db (Windows XP)

Now if youÂ are using the repository and wish to back this up then the default location for this is as follows:

C:\Users\< username>\AppData\Roaming\Benubird\Repository (Windows Vista | Windows 7)
C:\Documents and Settings\< username>\Application Data\Benubird\Repository (Windows XP)

However – note that it is possible for you to change this within Benubird, so be sure to make sure you are backing up the correct location!

Support for direct file linking added to Benubird

With the release of Benubird PDF 1.4.0.5, you can now link directly to files, rather than use Benubird’s internal repository. This is a much requested feature which allows you to combine your existing Windows Explorer file structure with Benubird’s data management.

The new version can be downloaded online and as with the previous version, it’s completely free!

We know that a lot of people have been looking forward to this new version with direct linking, so we’d love to hear your feedback on the forum about this latest release.

Benubird Pro now freeware and relaunched as Benubird PDF 1.4

In fitting with the introduction of the rest of our product line-up, ie. Quick PDF LibraryÂ and freebie mini-appÂ Quick PDF Tools, we’re now tweaking our focus to take advantage of our strong PDF background (and what we see as the core of the paperless trail today).

Yes, we’re powering up Benubird to really focus on PDF (mostly by way of using our sophisticated Quick PDF Library).

Therefore, we’ve made some small changes to Benubird such as in-built PDF Preview, moveable repository/library and PDF metadata to file metadata syncing. Â And whilst we work behind-the-scenes on bolting on an even greater range of PDF features and options, we’re making the current version freeware.

We’d like to see you drop by theÂ forumÂ and chat with the other users.Â So please, feel free to download and install Benubird PDF on as many computers as you like …Â

BTW — don’t worry, if you’re a paid-for-customer of the original Benubird Pro, we appreciate your support and we’re going to be offering you a free-upgrade to the commercial Benubird PDF Pro upon release.

Benubird Pro 1.3.1.3 Released

We’re excited to announce that Benubird Pro 1.3.1.3 has been released and is now ready for immediateÂ download and purchase.

The new release includes a number of minor bug fixes as well as a new feature which allows you to easily move the location of the file repository to a directory of your choosing. This feature was requested by a large number of customers and as is our policy, if the majority of customers want a feature; we’re happy to provide it to them.
