ARTS PDF Crackerjack 5.1 Release Adds Powerful and Easy To Use Imposition, Digital Stripping and Image Adjustment Tools

Melbourne, Australia — August 5, 2005

ARTS PDF, the leading developer of PDF tools for PDF professionals, today announced the latest release of its award-winning plug-in for print production professionals. ARTS PDF Crackerjack (now known as Debenu PDF Crackerjack) 5.1 enables users to take Adobe® Acrobat® to the next level with its advanced print tools. New features for version 5 include tools to perform powerful impositions, convert RGB and CMYK to spot color, verify Enfocus Certified PDFs, and edit and fix images. Crackerjack gives users the power to automate how they work, making workflows more efficient, consistent and profitable. As part of the launch ARTS PDF has also announced a special, one-week-only price of $370 (a saving of 25%) from August 8-15.

“The features introduced in version 5 make Crackerjack the essential tool for print production professionals,” said Gary Armstrong, VP of Sales, ARTS PDF. “Now with the one tool users can perform advanced digital stripping, they can fix a broad range of print production problems not handled by Adobe® Acrobat® Professional, they can convert RGB and CMYK to spot color, and they can prepare images for print and other forms of publishing.”

“With the new imposition tools, users can choose step and repeat, N-up, 2-up or 4-up styles to impose pages in different ways, they can use precise tools to allow for sheet size, margins, gutters, creep and more, and they can add trim and registration marks. Best of all, all imposition settings can be saved and reused,” said Armstrong. “The new tools for images let users adjust color spaces, sampling, resolution, size, OPI and much more. Users can edit one or more images in a document, or make adjustments to all images across a collection of PDF documents.”

“Crackerjack 5.0 has added some very useful features to an already powerful tool,” said Catherine McCarthy, Area Director for North America, Enfocus Software. “We are especially pleased that it incorporates Enfocus Certified PDF technology to allow users to validate Certified PDF status before printing. The addition of a simple-to-use tool for converting RGB or CMYK document colors to spot colors, plus the new n-up and step & repeat imposition features provide users with prepress tools which are above and beyond Acrobat® Professional.”

Crackerjack gives users the tools needed to fix common print problems, and to automate their workflows via hot folders. Hot folders allow tasks to be assigned to specific folders, and have files placed in those folders processed automatically.

Crackerjack features ensure users get more accurate separations previews, allowing them to display separations with all print settings such as media size, marks and color space conversion applied to ensure correct output. Crackerjack also provides users with more precise document control, enabling them to adjust for binding and other late-stage positioning needs. Tune dot gain, scaling, separations, screening, and more, and easily save and reuse each setting for consistent results.
