The PDF merging order that Debenu PDF Tools uses when combining multiple PDF files into one PDF varies depending on if you’re merging files directly within Windows Explorer or if you’re merging PDF files using the Automation features in Debenu PDF Tools Pro.
Windows Explorer
Debenu PDF Tools integrates with the right-click menu in Windows Explorer which means that you can simply select multiple files in Windows Explorer and then right-click on them and merge them using Debenu PDF Tools.
The order in which PDF files are merged using Debenu PDF Tools is based on how the files are sorted in the folder in Windows Explorer. If the files are in a folder that is sorted by Filename in Windows Explorer then the files will be merged in that order by Debenu PDF Tools. Windows Explorer provides a wide range of different options for sorting files.
Please note: when you have multiple files selected it is important to right-click on the file at the top of the sorted files as the file that is right-clicked on will always be the first file merged despite of how the files are sorted in Windows Explorer. So for example, if you want to merge PDF files based on Date Modified then click on the Date Modified column header in the folder and then select all of the files and right-click on the file at the top of the list and then merge using Debenu PDF Tools.
PDF Automation
The PDF Automation features in Debenu PDF Tools Pro let you batch process PDF files.
Process Files
After you’ve opened Debenu PDF Tools Pro Automation click on the Process Files tab.
Add Files
If files are added to Process Files via the Add Files button then files will be added to the list of files to process based on the order that the files are sorted in Windows Explorer.
Add Folder
If files are added to Process Files via the Add Folder button then files will be added alphabetically and merged alphabetically unless you manually change the merge order by re-ordering the files.
When you create an Action and use it for merging files the files will be added using a folder so they will be merged alphabetically.
Watched Folders
If files are merged via Watched Folders then they will be merged in alphabetical order by default.
