Depending on your workflow, you might need to apply the same set of bookmarks to multiple PDF files. This can be important, for example, when regular reports follow the same format (including pagination). In such situations, having the ability to export and import bookmarks between PDFs can be a crucial time-saver. That way, the bookmarks only need to be manually created once, and can be applied to each new document as it is prepared.

Fortunately, this task is relatively straightforward in Debenu PDF Aerialist. Indeed, Aerialist also allows users to perform this task with PDF links (see the Knowledge Base article on how to export and import links). Instructions on how to export and import bookmarks from a PDF using Debenu PDF Aerialist are outlined separately, below.

Exporting Bookmarks from a PDF

1. In Acrobat, select Tools > Debenu PDF Aerialist 11 > Bookmarks.

2. Select Add Bookmarks.

3. Click on Import.

4. Select “From current PDF” and click OK.

6. Select file name and location.

Importing Bookmarks into a PDF

1. In Acrobat, select Tools > Debenu PDF Aerialist 11 > Bookmarks.

3. Click on Import.

6. Click OK.

7. Select insertion location (i.e., before, after or to overwrite existing bookmarks) and click OK.
